A stackable compact pair solves one problem and creates three others. It saves floor width, but the stacked column still has a published depth, a door-open swing, a power requirement for the dryer, and a real height that has to clear the underside of the closet shelf.

For this ranking, we used five washer-dryer pairs where both units are marked stackable in the Compact Laundry Fit data. The rank is the pair’s average CLF Score, with the average fit-flexibility sub-score used as the tie-breaker. Stack height below is the two published unit heights added together before any stacking-kit hardware, shelf clearance, leveling-foot adjustment, hoses, ducting, or room-specific installation clearance.

1. LG WM1455HWA + DLHC1455W — best combined score

The LG compact stack is the cleanest score result in this set. The washer has a 93.5 CLF Score and the dryer has an 82.5 CLF Score, producing an average of 88.0. Their combined fit-flexibility average is 83.7.

The source records list the washer at 24” W × 22.25” D × 33.5” H with 43.25” depth with the door open and a 120V / 10A electrical requirement. The dryer source record lists 24” W × 26.375” D × 33.5” H, 45.25” depth with the door open, ventless heat-pump drying, and 240V / 30A electrical requirements per the LG builder spec sheet.

2. Electrolux ELFW4222AW + ELFE4222AW — tight footprint, steady scores

The Electrolux pair averages 82.3 CLF and 83.0 fit-flexibility, which puts it just behind the LG set. The washer source record lists 23.625” width, 25” depth, 33.5” height, 42” depth with the door open, 120V power, and STACKIT24A as the stacking-kit record. The dryer source record lists 23.625” width, 24” depth, 33.5” height, 42” depth with the door open, ventless condenser drying, 240V, and the same STACKIT24A kit.

The practical reason to keep Electrolux high is depth discipline: the published closed-depth max is 25”, and the door-open number is 42” for both units. The caution is hookup specificity. The dryer is a 240V unit; the washer unit record leaves amperage unpublished rather than guessed.

3. GE GFW148SSMWW + GFT14ESSMWW — narrowest pair here

The GE pair averages 81.8 CLF and 82.4 fit-flexibility. It is also the narrowest pair in this article by published body width: 23.4375” for both the washer and dryer.

The washer record lists 23.4375” W × 25.625” D × 33.25” H, 42.8125” depth with the door open, 120V, and an official GE electrical source that states a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. The dryer record lists 23.4375” W × 25.25” D × 33.25” H, 42.8125” depth with the door open, ventless condenser drying, and 240V electrical evidence.

4. Bosch WGA14400UC + WQB245B0UC — good dryer score, lower power flexibility

The Bosch pair averages 80.9 CLF, but its average fit-flexibility score drops to 74.2 because both units use 208/220–240V source records. The washer is listed at 23.5” W × 24.25” D × 33.25” H, with 41.5” door-open depth and stacking-kit options WTZ11400UC or WTZ20410UC. The heat-pump dryer is listed at 23.5” W × 26” D × 33.25” H, ventless, 208/220–240V, and stacking-kit records WTZ27500UC or WTZ20410UC.

Bosch is not a 120V shortcut. Its advantage is a compact 23.5” width and a heat-pump dryer with a 98.2 running-cost sub-score based on the ENERGY STAR record in the score file. Its caution is evidence shape: the dryer door-open depth is not published in the unit record, so a shallow closet needs manual measurement around the actual door swing.

5. Miele WXD160WCS + TWB120WP — strongest fit-flex score, weaker total score

Miele has the highest pair fit-flexibility average here at 89.9, but the average CLF Score is 77.6 because the dryer owner-satisfaction sub-score is low and the dryer’s annual energy figure is not published in the score record.

The washer record lists 23.5” W × 25.3125” D × 33.5” H, 120V / 15A, and WTV502 / WTV512 stack-kit records, but no published door-open depth. The dryer record lists 23.5” W × 25.375” D × 33.5” H, 42.5” depth with the door open, 120V / 15A, ventless heat-pump drying, and the same WTV502 / WTV512 stacking-kit family.

That makes Miele the cleanest 120V stack in this database by published power requirements. It also carries the roughest dryer review signal in this article: 2.6 stars across 5 AJ Madison ratings, with complaint themes around pump failure, running hot, and slow drying, alongside positive comments about 120V operation and small-space fit.

Best use case: a 120V-only closet where the Miele dimensions measure cleanly and the small review sample is acceptable risk. Open the Miele washer and dryer.

Shelf check: measure floor to underside, not just closet width

The compact stacks above cluster around 66.5” to 67” when you add the two published unit heights. That number is only a source-backed starting point. The real closet check is floor to underside of shelf, plus the stacking-kit hardware, leveling range, hoses, dryer vent or ventless drain path where applicable, and any manufacturer-required clearance.

Use the published stacked height as a filter, then run the fit finder with your closet width, depth, height, door-frame width, power, venting, and drain constraints. It reports dimensional overages and hookup mismatches from the same source-locked unit records behind this article; it does not turn a spec-sheet match into a guarantee.
