In the Compact Laundry Fit database, the heat-pump dryer set is only three models: LG DLHC1455W, Bosch WQB245B0UC, and Miele TWB120WP. We ranked those by CLF Score, our weighted score for fit flexibility, owner satisfaction, running cost, and warranty coverage. Then we checked them against two ventless condenser dryers — GE GFT14ESSMWW and Electrolux ELFE4222AW — because the running-cost gap is the reason heat pump matters.

The LG DLHC1455W is the top heat-pump dryer in this set by CLF Score at 82.5. Its official source record lists a 24” width, 26.375” depth, 33.5” height, 45.25” depth with the door open, 4.2 cu ft capacity, ventless heat-pump drying, and 240V / 30A electrical requirements per the builder spec sheet.

The score shape is clean on specs and thin on owner-rating data. LG gets a 96.5 running-cost sub-score from a 133 kWh/yr ENERGY STAR record, and its fit-flexibility sub-score is 81.4. Owner satisfaction is dropped because no retailer-rating average was collected for the CLF score. The review themes we do have say owners often mention quiet operation and a compact footprint, while also noting longer drying cycles for bulky items and occasional error codes.

The Bosch WQB245B0UC lands just behind LG at 81.8. Its source record lists a 23.5” width, 26” depth, 33.25” height, 4.0 cu ft capacity, ventless heat-pump drying, and a 208/220–240V requirement with a 15A circuit breaker per the published listing. Door-open depth was not published in our source record, so do not guess it for a shallow closet.

Bosch has the best running-cost sub-score in the heat-pump group: 98.2, based on 122 kWh/yr plus ENERGY STAR. It also has a collected owner-satisfaction basis: 3.98 stars across 54 AJ Madison ratings. The review themes are mixed in a useful way: buyers praise quiet operation, efficiency, and shorter total wash-plus-dry time compared with a prior all-in-one unit, while complaints flag the purchase price and a finicky remote-start behavior.

3. Miele TWB120WP — the 120V exception with the roughest reviews

The Miele TWB120WP is the oddball. Its CLF Score is lower at 73.7, but its fit-flexibility sub-score is the highest in this article at 97.8 because the source record lists 120V / 15A, ventless heat-pump drying, 23.5” width, 25.375” depth, 33.5” height, and 42.5” depth with the door open. If your apartment has only a standard 120V outlet, that published power requirement is the reason Miele stays on the list.

The caution is evidence quality on satisfaction and energy. Annual energy was not published in the score record, so the running-cost sub-score is dropped rather than guessed. Owner satisfaction is not flattering: 2.6 stars across 5 AJ Madison ratings. The review themes include pump-failure complaints, reports of the dryer running hot, and at least one report of long cycles still leaving items damp. Why heat pump beats condenser on running-cost score

The two condenser dryers in the same compact ventless class are not bad fits. Electrolux ELFE4222AW is 23.625” wide, 24” deep, and 42” with the door open. GE GFT14ESSMWW is 23.4375” wide, 25.25” deep, and 42.8125” with the door open. Both are ventless condenser dryers in the source records, and both require 240V power per their published records.

The reason they are not the headline heat-pump picks is the running-cost component. In the CLF score file, both condenser units use a 317 kWh/yr ENERGY STAR basis and land at a 67.4 running-cost sub-score. LG’s heat-pump record uses 133 kWh/yr and Bosch’s uses 122 kWh/yr, producing running-cost sub-scores of 96.5 and 98.2. Same broad ventless category; very different energy evidence.

Owner reviews keep the condenser pair in the conversation. Electrolux has 4.29 stars across 73 AJ Madison ratings, with praise for the included direct-drain kit and compact ventless design, but complaints that drying can take much longer than a vented dryer. GE has 4.35 stars across 286 AJ Madison ratings, with review themes saying it handles larger loads and dries faster than expected, while at least one owner reported wrinkling/tangling.

How to choose without the mythology

Use heat pump as a shortlist filter, not a promise. Check four things against your actual space:

  • Outlet: LG and Bosch require 240V per their source records; Miele is the 120V heat-pump exception in this database.
  • Door path: LG publishes 45.25” door-open depth and Miele publishes 42.5”; Bosch’s source record did not publish door-open depth.
  • Energy evidence: LG and Bosch have annual-kWh records; Miele’s annual energy was not published in the CLF score record, so it is dropped.
  • Owner signal: Bosch has a mid-pack rating base, LG has review themes but no collected rating average in the score, and Miele has a small but rough rating sample.
